Jawai Leopard Safari from Jaipur: Timings, Cost, Kumbhalgarh & Weekend Plan
18 Oct 2026

Jawai, in Pali district, is famous for something you'll find almost nowhere else: leopards living freely among granite hills and villages, alongside local Rabari herders. Add Kumbhalgarh Fort — whose walls are among the longest in the world — and you have one of the best weekend trips from Jaipur.
Quick facts
- Distance from Jaipur: about 390 km (6.5–7 hours by road via Ajmer–Beawar)
- Kumbhalgarh to Jawai: about 2–2.5 hours by road
- Best season: October to March (pleasant weather; leopards are active around dawn and dusk year-round)
- Safari: open jeep (gypsy), morning or evening, about 2.5–3 hours
Jawai leopard safari timings
- Summer: about 5:00–8:00 am and 4:00–7:00 pm
- Winter: about 6:00–9:00 am and 3:30–6:30 pm
Leopards are most often seen at dawn and in the golden hour before sunset, sunning on the rocks.
How much does a Jawai safari cost?
Safaris are run privately by local camps and operators. A private gypsy for up to 6 people typically costs around ₹3,500–5,000 per vehicle, with higher prices on long weekends and holidays. On our group trip, the safari is already included.

- Sightings are never guaranteed in the wild, but Jawai has one of the best chances anywhere.
