Day-wise Itinerary
- Day 1: Delhi Departure β Overnight Volvo Journey
Assemble at Kashmere Gate, Delhi, around 10 PMβ11 PM for departure towards Shimla. Meet your trip captain and fellow travellers before boarding the Volvo. Settle in for an overnight journey through the mountains, with arrival in Shimla the following morning. Dinner during the journey will be self-paid.
- Day 2: Shimla to Sangla / Chitkul
Arrive in Shimla around 7 AMβ8 AM and take some time to freshen up and have brunch. Afterward, board the tempo traveller or mini bus and begin your scenic drive towards Sangla through the beautiful Kinnaur Valley. En route, explore the Karcham Dam and enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery. Reach Sangla or Chitkul around 6 PMβ8 PM, check into your accommodation and enjoy dinner included as part of the tour. Breakfast is mentioned as self-paid in the brochure.
- Day 3: Sangla and Chitkul Exploration β Drive Towards Nako
After checkout, explore Chitkul, known as the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border. Continue through the scenic landscapes of Kinnaur and visit Khab Sangla, where the Spiti and Baspa rivers meet. Visit Gue Village, famous for its approximately 900-year-old monastery and remote Himalayan setting. Continue your drive towards Nako, enjoying the changing mountain landscapes along the way. Reach Nako around 8 PMβ9 PM, check into your hotel and enjoy dinner.
- Day 4: Nako to Kaza β Tabo and Dhankar Monasteries
After breakfast, check out around 7 AM and begin your drive towards Kaza. En route, explore Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest and most significant monasteries in the region. Continue to Dhankar Monastery, renowned for its dramatic location and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Explore the local markets before continuing towards Kaza. Arrive around 7 PMβ8 PM, check into your hotel and enjoy dinner.
- Day 5: Kaza Sightseeing β Hikkim, Komic and Langza
After breakfast, set out to explore some of Spiti Valley's most iconic destinations. Visit Hikkim, home to the world's highest post office, where you can send a postcard from the high Himalayas. Continue to Komic, one of the highest motorable villages in the world, known for its remote location and panoramic mountain views. Later, visit Langza, famous for its giant Buddha statue, fossil-rich terrain and breathtaking landscapes. Enjoy lunch at a local cafΓ© at your own expense before returning to Kaza for the evening and dinner at the hotel.
- Day 6: Kaza Local Sightseeing β Key Monastery and Chicham Bridge
After breakfast, explore the cultural and scenic highlights around Kaza. Visit Key Monastery, the largest and one of the most iconic Buddhist monasteries in Spiti Valley, situated on a hill overlooking the surrounding landscape. Continue to Chicham Bridge, a spectacular high-altitude suspension bridge offering incredible views of the deep gorge and surrounding mountains. Spend time exploring and capturing photographs before returning to Kaza. Lunch at a local cafΓ© will be self-paid, followed by time to relax at the hotel and enjoy dinner.
- Day 7: Kaza to Shimla β Mountain Drive
After breakfast, check out and begin the return journey towards Shimla. The brochure mentions Kibber, Gue Monastery and Kalpa in this section, along with the scenic landscapes of Kinnaur and Spiti. Enjoy the mountain drive and the changing views as you make your way back towards Shimla. On reaching Shimla, check into your hotel and have dinner.
- Day 8: Shimla to Delhi β Departure
After breakfast, check out around 8 AM and spend some free time exploring Shimla, shopping or enjoying the local surroundings, depending on the departure schedule. Later, board the Volvo for Delhi. Enjoy the overnight journey, with arrival in Delhi the following morning. Your Spiti Valley expedition concludes with beautiful mountain memories and new travel connections.
