Twin Tower Trek Jaipur: Route, Sunrise Timing & Tips | 20% Off Group Treks
19 Oct 2026
The Twin Tower trek is one of the most searched treks in Jaipur — a sunrise climb through the forested Aravalli hills behind Galta to two old abandoned towers standing on the ridge, with the walled city spread out below.
This guide covers where the trek is, what the trail is like, the best time to go, how to prepare, what to carry and how to stay safe — everything you need for a great morning in the Aravallis.
Quick facts
- Difficulty: Easy–moderate
- Trek distance: about 3 km each way
- Time needed: 2.5–3 hours
- Best season: October–March; post-monsoon for green hills
- Good for: Beginners and history lovers
- Also known as: Amagarh Twin Towers
Where it is and how to get there
Early-morning start from the Galta side of the city (exact point shared after booking). Like most Jaipur treks, it's done at sunrise, so plan to leave home in the dark. There's no public transport to trek bases at that hour — come on your own two-wheeler or car, or ride together with a group from a common meeting point.
The trek, step by step
- Before dawn: meet, do a quick headcount and safety briefing, switch on torches.
- The climb: The walk from the Galta side is about 3 km and mostly a gradual climb along a forest trail, passing old ruins on the way. The towers themselves make a striking sunrise silhouette, and the ridge gives wide views over Jaipur. There's very little shade at the top, so starting before sunrise matters — and the way down is quick.
- Sunrise at the top: catch your breath, watch the light spread over the hills, take photos and refuel.
- The way down: go slower than you think — most slips happen on the descent. Most groups are back in the city by mid-morning.
Best time to go
- October–February: the best months — cool mornings and clear skies.
- July–September: the hills turn green and beautiful, but trails are slippery; go only with a group.
- March–June: hot — start before sunrise and finish early.
How fit do you need to be?
Most reasonably active people manage this comfortably. For a week before, take a few 30–45 minute walks or climb stairs to warm your legs up. On the trail, keep a steady pace rather than rushing the steep parts — and stop whenever you need a breather.
What to carry
- Shoes: trekking or sports shoes with good grip (no flat sandals)
- Water: 1–1.5 litres, plus a small snack
- Clothes: full-length and comfortable — many trails have thorny bushes; a light jacket in winter
- Light: a torch or phone light for the pre-dawn start
- Extras: cap, small backpack, ID and any personal medicines
Safety tips
- Don't trek alone, and don't take unfamiliar trails in the dark — go with a group and a leader who knows the route.
- Tell someone at home where you're going and when you'll be back.
- Watch your step on loose stones, especially on the way down.
- After rain, rocks get slippery — slow down or turn back if it's unsafe.
- In summer, finish before 8–9 am; the Aravalli heat builds fast.
Photography tips
- Reach the top 15–20 minutes before sunrise — the colours before the sun appears are often the best.
- Shoot people against the sky as silhouettes; it always works at sunrise.
- Use the ridgeline or trail as a leading line in your landscape shots.
- Keep your phone in a pocket on rocky sections — both hands free is safer.
Leave no trace
These hills are home to birds, peacocks, nilgai and the villages around them. Carry every wrapper and bottle back down, skip the loud music, and leave temples and old ruins exactly as you found them. Smoking and alcohol have no place on the trail.

FAQs
Is the Twin Tower trek good for beginners?
It's rated easy–moderate. Yes — if you're reasonably active and wear proper shoes, you'll be fine.
What time should I start?
Plan to be on the trail before first light so you reach the top for sunrise and finish before the heat.
Can I do it alone?
We don't recommend it. Trails cross forest and village land and can be confusing in the dark — go with friends who know the route or join a group.
Is there an entry gate or ticket for the Twin Tower trek?
There's no ticketed entry to the trail itself. Some approach roads pass through forest or temple areas, which is one more reason to go with a leader who knows the current route.
Do you run group treks here?
Yes — groups of 5 or more get 20% off. Message us on WhatsApp for the next date.
