Trekking in Jaipur: Best Treks Near Jaipur (Saan Valley, Twin Tower, Mini Kedarnath & More)
18 Oct 2026
Most people don't expect it, but Jaipur sits right inside the Aravalli range — one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world. Within 30–45 minutes of the city you can be on a rocky ridge watching the sun rise over the hills, forts and lakes. That's why weekend sunrise treks have become one of Jaipur's favourite ways to start a Sunday.
This guide covers the treks people search for most, how hard they are, the best time to go, and how to join a group trek with TrekkingMantra.
Best treks near Jaipur at a glance
- Saan Valley trek — moderate · about 3–4 km of trekking · sunrise views over the Aravallis. Full Saan Valley guide

Trail conditions change with the season, and some trails pass through forest or village land. Always go with a group or someone who knows the route — never alone, and never after dark.
Saan Valley trek
Saan Valley (also searched as Shan, San or Sang Valley) is tucked into the Aravalli hills on the Amer side of the city, in the Natata–Kukas area. It's known for butterfly-filled trails, rocky ridges and beautiful sunrise and sunset views. Our group treks meet before dawn near Jal Mahal, ride about 10 km to the base, and finish the 3–4 km trek in roughly 3–4 hours. It's rated moderate, so wear proper shoes with grip. Read the complete Saan Valley guide for timings, rules and what to carry.
Twin Tower trek
The Twin Tower trek climbs through the forested hills behind Galta to two abandoned towers standing on the ridge. The walk from the Galta side is about 3 km and mostly gradual, with old ruins and wide views of the walled city along the way. It's a good second trek once you've done an easy one. Go early — the ridge has very little shade.
Mini Kedarnath trek
Jaipur's "Mini Kedarnath" is a climb to an old Shiva temple on an Aravalli hilltop. It's one of the most searched treks in the city because it combines a proper uphill climb with a temple visit and sunrise views. Steps and rocky sections make it easy to moderate. It's especially beautiful just after the monsoon, when the hills turn green — but rocks can be slippery after rain.
Mount Sumel and Chabutra treks
Mount Sumel is a steeper climb that rewards you with some of the widest views around Jaipur — better for people who already have one or two treks behind them. Chabutra is a shorter ridge trek of around 4 km and a good choice for first-timers and families with older kids.
Achrol Fort and Nahargarh
For history lovers, the climb to the Achrol Fort ruins (north of Jaipur, towards the Delhi highway) mixes a moderate hike with old walls and gateways. The Nahargarh trail from the old city is the easiest of all and ends with one of the best views of Jaipur — great for a first sunrise walk.
Best time for trekking in Jaipur
- October to February: the best season — cool mornings and clear views.
- July to September (monsoon): the hills turn green and waterfalls appear, but trails get slippery. Go only with a group and good shoes.
- March to June: very hot by 8–9 am. If you go, start before sunrise and finish early.
Almost every Jaipur trek is done at sunrise: you start in the dark around 4:30–5:30 am and are back in the city before the heat.
What to carry
